use the inside of that fridge, the rotating 3d box. it would be fun -vince
How about a mirror? Then we could be sure who was really directing the episodes. - D
Staying with the old map is also an option :) I am not over the old map myself, though it only seems fair to explore this idea.
-Drew
- I am for keeping the map too! I don't see what's wrong with it? The map just belongs to Rocketboom. You can't divide the two (I think). --80.145.160.220 21:00, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
I was thinking you could use some retro type image. Maybe a Norman Rockwell type image. -Matt Herzberger
I think the scale of the planet objects in Matt's pictures is too large. Maybe a smaller field of stars would work better. The rain drops in rpl's picture also are out of scale with the size of JC. Rain drops are always tiny on a window in comparison to a person.
Placing JC in front of some scene doesn't seem to read too well. The one thing the map had going for it was that it read visually as a flat shape. Whatever replaces the map should read "flat" as opposed to 3-D. The 3-D style images will detract from JC. -John Post
Starfire's lilly pads made me think of Monet's paintings. It might be fun to put Joanne amidst classic paintings, or bits of them and make a game out of guessing what it is. --Amyloo 15:37, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
What if you stick with the map theme, but use a more detailed map / different maps? Perhaps the map could reflect the "location" of the story (e.g., when talking about the bench, the map is centered on the lat/long of the bench). If you're green-screening, you might be able to do a nice transition effect from one map to the next as a way to signal change in topic.

- I like that idea. But I'd rather learn what Mauritania looks like then to see a citymap of Boston. I see that this a lot of editorial work, but I'd love it. Showing pictures of the country. You can green screen tape the episode and add smaller pictures while Joanne is talking about a different subject not requiring videos, can't you? JackH 16:03, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
+ Ya know, there's something to be said for tradition, and personally, I like maps. A series of rotating relavant maps throughout time and space--that would be interesting, maybe with a standard (like the old world map you took away) and on occassional variation (like the space scenes!). Just don't loose the "Zoom Zoom Rocket" song.
--Packie How about somthing resembling "A View of the World" by Saul Steinberg? The famous New Yorker cover shows a view from Ninth Avenue in NYC with the rest of the world on the horizon. Here is a link: http://www.billy-ball.com/AViewoftheWorldfromNinthAvenue.htm
Actually I don't like the rocketboom logo. I'm okay with the intro (- maybe because the rocketboom logo is seen just for half a glimpse.). The first complain I had about this wiki was the logo. ... and then I realized it's the rocketboom logo. ...and on an wiki that's the only eyecandy to nourish on. :-( -- JackH 15:57, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- In between I figured the rocket is the logo. I like that. But I don't like this skyscrapertop. JackH 19:18, 3 August 2006 (UTC) (btw. why did you move my comment down here? Wasn't it relevant enough. I wouldn't mind with relevent comments are right next to the picture. That would at least bring some order into the comments. In case there is a voting somewhen, it would also make sense to make the voting under the every picture. ... okay, doesn't matter, but I'll start a paragraph in the discussion anyhow.)
How about a live feed of the internet bench?? http://www.opentopia.com/showcam.php?camid=1573 ---
Wow, that animated piece by Kirby is really awesome! You must really know what your doing. Very cool. But yea maybe that gets RB too far from their conservative roots. -Brandon
Thanks, Brandon - glad you like the animation. I'm the Art Director at a TV station, so I've had some practice. ;-)
Kirby
I vote for bold nature photographs at a proper distance ('I' above, but 'F' doesn't match the presenter's size).
What about putting a mirror behind Joanne. In my opinion this is a good symbol for your show (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_stage). But maybe I read to much of Lacanian stuff.
Show from 7th of August:
- Do you think they chose that topic just in order to shoot outside and to have one more day to decide on the background ;-) JackH 13:41, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] general notes on the pictures
I hope we can put picture-specific comments right below the picture.
On the one hand I'd like something new once in a while, something, one can learn something about, getting interested. Maybe famous pictures or maps of unfamiliar countries. ... but then again. I can understand, that you want something, we can all remember and in a way identify with. JackH 13:47, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] picture request
You have a great idea for a background, but you think someoneelse could do a better job putting it into reality:
[edit] how to decide
Could we discuss on how to decide on the new background? Do we want to wait for more proposals? How long? Do we want to do a preliminary voting in order to sort out
of the pictures? Do we want to creat a side with thumbnails of the pictures? Don't we want to start to comment directly under the pictures in order to have an overview, which picture gets the most reaction? The way we're discussing right now doesn't get us too much further, I presume. JackH 13:41, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
